October....It's Over!
Well, I am overjoyed to see that October is over and gone. Although it was a great month, we are now to November, which is the last full month before Tim comes home. I cannot express the joy that the single phrase, "Tim comes home," produces in my heart. Being so close to it now makes me that much more eager for it to just get here already! I'm hoping that this time change doesn't cause time to pass more slowly, but if it does, December will still get here! Well, October, like I said, was a great month, but it was certainly a busy one. Isaac and I spent a lot of time doing "fall" things. Now that he's getting old enough, it's really fun to do things like collect fall leaves and dress up for Halloween. Halloween certainly isn't my favorite holiday, and Tim and I even discussed not celebrating it at all, but once you have children, things kind of change a little bit. You still want them to enjoy the fun of the holiday without really getting into the bad aspect of things. So, we decided to do our "Halloween" at the AWANA FunFest, which was a blast. Isaac dressed up as what else? A COWBOY! He seemed to walk a little bigger in those boots of his. He also found his cowboy sweetheart there. There was a little girl named Melody who dressed up as a cowgirl, and it was love at first sight I believe. They were inseperable, pretty much. Isaac bounced and played until he couldn't even breathe anymore, and finally, I had to make him quit and go home. But it was a big blast. Of course, the point of the night for most kids was to get candy, and the way to get candy was to play the games, such as finding eggs underneath a bunch of balloons. Well, I think that I'm the only person who cheated in order to NOT get candy! Haha...see, Isaac hasn't learned about the joys of candy yet. He doesn't really know if he likes candy or not, and I'd just assume to keep it that way, soooo I would go behind him and put back some of the eggs just so he wouldn't get as much candy! It was pretty funny, and I'm happy to announce that he only got out of there with a couple of suckers and a Twizzlers stick. He was happy, and I was happy too!
My grandmother just celebrated her 80th birthday...WOOHOO! I wish I could put an applause track on here, but anyway, we decided to do a great big bash for her. So, we decided on a theme...."Nanny's Favorite Things". Well, this can turn out to be a pretty comical theme when your favorite things are burnt toast and pink nightgowns. It was a blast and I think that she had a lot of fun. The place settings were burnt toast with namecards sitting on top, and for party favors, everyone got a plastic rain bonnet. She refused to wear a party hat because it would mess up her hair, so we got her a feather boa instead. She looked quite lovely in it, in my opinion! Anyway, we have definitely had a fun October!
For an update on Tim, he is doing well. He is trying to stay busy because being so close to coming home has also made him more eager to get here. He has moved into his old room to make room for the new bunch coming over, which is exciting, and in a couple of weeks, he will move again to accomodate more of the new guys. He has a couple of missions left, but once those are over, he'll just be training the new soliders, packing up, and thinking about home! We can't wait! In the meantime, I'm starting my Christmas shopping because I'm determined not to be scrambling the last minute this year. Happy Election Day to everyone...I'm curious to see who will be our next president. Whoever it may be, I hope that regardless of your vote, we will all be able to join together in prayer for this leader because he has a very difficult job ahead of him. Don't forget to go vote on Tuesday!
Love the post. I can see my grandmother not wearing a hat to not mess up her hair. I also had a coworker whose name was Toast and he would use piece of Toast as a nametage
